Cheryl Thornley LLB (Hons), BVC, MCILEx
A former police officer for 20 years, Cheryl studied Law at the University of Buckingham and was awarded a First Class Law Degree and a scholarship to undertake the Bar Vocational Course, where she gained her academic qualifications as Barrister at the BPP Law School in London. She was called to the Bar in 2009.​ Cheryl is working towards Fellowship status with the Chartered Institute For Legal Executives (CILEx).

Head of Operations
Kevin Thornley
Kevin has over 20 years operational management experience in national and multination companies. He has extensive project management experience with a key eye for detail and development of processes and systems in the business environment. He is an ISO auditor and supports our regional directors in business development.
Regional Director (York) & Family Law Consultant
Helen Hargreaves BA (Hons), PGDL, LPC, MCILEx
Helen has enjoyed a successful 25-year career in nursing, latterly, specialising as a Nurse Practitioner working mainly in Urgent Care and GP Surgeries. Helen successfully completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at The University of Law before joining a local law firm. Helen is now working towards Fellowship status with the Chartered Institute for Legal Executives.

Regional Director (Swindon) & Family Law Consultant
John Rennie BSc (Hons) (St Ands)
John is a former telecommunication and radio communication specialist. With a passion for supporting the vulnerable, John transferred his logical evidence based thinking & clear communication skillset to the charitable sector. Over a 10 year period in supported housing he secured funding for several single homeless providers, helping bring meaningful change to peoples' lives. Throughout this period John had many successful outcomes representing vulnerable tenants in Housing Benefit Tribunals. He pursued several cases to successful outcome with the Ombudsman. John has previously been a volunteer adviser with Citizens Advice and has assisted in criminal appeals with the Freedom Law Clinic. He now turns his passion for supporting others to the challenging area of Family Law. He is completing the final stages of a Law degree and is a member of CILEX working towards CPQ.
Solicitor, Regional Director (Liverpool) & Family Law Consultant
Jane Davies LLB (Hons), PG Dip Law (VR)
Jane is a qualified solicitor who has now moved over from personal injury to pursue a career in Family Law. Jane has previously supported many people through family proceedings on a pro- bono basis. Jane has particular experience of supporting victims of domestic violence and sexual assaults. In addition Jane also has some experience in SEN and welfare law and is particularly passionate about supporting families who have children with additional needs. In her spare time Jane is still a volunteer serving solider in the Army Reserve.
Regional Director (Cambridge) & Family Law Consultant
Jonathan Cooke
Jonathan is a former Police Inspector with an extensive legal background from his 28-year career in policing. Passionate about helping victims and survivors of domestic abuse, he has a proven track record of driving meaningful change in this area. Known for his people-focused and service-driven approach, Jonathan has consistently placed customers at the heart of operations, leading to improved customer experiences. Jonathan has regularly attended court and prepared comprehensive case files, ensuring thorough and effective management of cases. Working towards legal qualifications, he now turns his skills to the field of Family Law, committed to making a positive impact by supporting clients through complex family law matters.

Paralegal
Emily Brookes BA (Hons)
Emily has extensive experience in the legal industry having worked for Legal 500 listed law firms in a variety of roles. She is passionate about supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse and has particular expertise in child arrangements. More recently Emily has developed her experience supporting clients in family court as a professional Mckenzie Friend and is working towards her Level 3 CILEx status.
Office Administrator/Director Support
Sue Robinson
Sue joined Puzzle Piece Law because she cares passionately about supporting vulnerable people having come from a administration background working in charitable organisations. Sue supports the team at Head Office in addition to supporting our regional directors.
